2016-2017 Columbia Ambassador - Kenadi Bredahl

Kenadi Bredahl of Berthold, North Dakota was selected to represent the All American Breed as the 2016-2017 Columbia Ambassador.  Kenadi is the daughter of Scott and Karla Bredahl and will be a Freshman at Lewis & Clark High School.  She is an active member of the Junior Columbia Association including winning the 2016 Showmanship at the Diamond Jubilee in Minot.  She enjoys showing sheep with her family and friends.  According to her, it is an honor that she is the Columbia Ambassador as her late grandfather, Gene Bredahl would have been proud.  It is a tradition in the Bredahl family of representing the CSBA as National Columbia Queen now Ambassador as Kenadi's three Aunts - Janelle, Mona and Debby were all Columbia royalty.  Not even a month after being crowned, Kenadi has already been out promoting Columbias as she has attended several county fairs.  She also was in the 4th of July Parade on a float with one her Columbia ewes riding down main street.  Super job of promoting the breed.  Also pictured below is Jess Manthe from Kewanee, IL 2015 -2016 Ambassador passing on the tradition to Kenadi.

Beginning in 1915 & 1916 and continuing through 1922, Presidents Wilson and Harding set aside over 45,000 acres of land in Intermountain West to establish the USDA, US Sheep Experiment Station (aka, Sheep Station). These lands were devoted to scientific research focused on sheep genetics & rangeland science and the sustainable integration of livestock production and rangeland management systems.  In the 1940s, the Sheep Station joined efforts with the University of Idaho, which further strengthened the unit’s research efforts. Over the past 100 years, the Sheep Station has housed a multitude of scientists, professors, technicians, students, foreign professors & visitors, and their families.  These people contributed towards the outstanding scientific productivity and community of the Sheep Station, which has had a significant impact on the sheep industries and rangeland management programs throughout the United States and world.
In honor of the Sheep Station and those who have contributed to its existence, we will host the 100th Anniversary of the US Sheep Experiment Station on August 23 and 24, 2016. The celebration will take place in Idaho Falls and Dubois, Idaho and at the Sheep Station headquarters, 6 miles north of Dubois. Please see the attached brochure, which describes in detail the events, locations, and registration requirements.
Everyone is welcome to attend all events and sessions. However, participants should pre-register and purchase meal tickets if they wish to eat the meals served at the Opening Mixer (August 23rd in Idaho Falls) and Anniversary Luncheon (August 24th in Dubois). Please note that the registration deadline for the meals is August 5. We will also host the Tri-State Idaho-Montana-Wyoming Wool Growers Association Range Tour on August 25th,  but pre-registration is required for this event.
Note that blocks of rooms have NOT been reserved. So, please make your lodging reservations in advance at your motel of choice. Motels and contact info are included in the brochure.
We hope to see you at the celebration!  USSES 100th Anniversary Brochure
